I am passionate about ensuring all students grow up to be compassionate world citizens that are critical thinkers, and ones that value lifelong learning. I am very proud to work at Newport Lakes Primary School and help support our wonderful staff in providing an inclusive and engaging learning environment for our amazing and varied students. We place our students’ wellbeing and learning at the centre, with a focus on developing the whole child, which includes providing support and extension as well as a terrific selection of specialist subjects and extracurricular activities.
The collegiate feel that the school has can be attributed to a positive school staff culture, and this permeates into our classrooms to ensure that all students reach their potential in inclusive, dynamic learning spaces.

I believe all kids can learn, and want to learn, when the right conditions are in place. For me, great teaching is a blend of art and science. I’m interested in how learning works – how memory forms, how we manage cognitive load, and how we help knowledge stick. But teaching is also about relationships, trust, humour, and creating a classroom culture where kids feel safe to take risks and stretch themselves.
I think schools should be places of curiosity, rigour, and joy. I value approaches that are grounded in evidence and focused on what is best for students, not on trends or fads. I also believe teachers need to be learners. I’m always reading, reflecting, trying new things, and learning from my colleagues.
At the end of the day, I want to help kids grow, not just academically but as people. The aim is that they leave us a little more curious, capable, and confident than when they started.
