The first year of school for Foundation (Prep) students beginning at Newport Lakes Primary School is an important one, both for the students and the parents. We understand that coming to school is a big deal and that the students are stepping out of their comfort zone, so we aim to create and nurture a safe, caring and fun learning environment where a love of learning is the ultimate goal.

We have a focus on developing core literacy and numeracy skills, but at the same time, a huge emphasis is placed on building the students’ social skills and the assets needed to be a good learner. Children spend time developing an understanding of how to communicate, self-manage, research, think critically and creatively and collaborate with others.

The students’ successful journey through primary school relies on a strong collaboration between parents, teachers and students.
