We create many opportunities to extend learning, create different friendship groups & provide new experiences for all our students. This is a snapshot of what happens outside our classrooms.
The POD
The Play POD is a repurposed shipping container next to the big playground that is full of random objects. The ‘POD Squad’ student leaders open the doors during selected lunchtimes & all students are welcome to use items for creative play.
Friendship Bus Stop
We know some days students find it hard to find others to play with so we have the Friendship Bus Stop. It is a bench seat in our playground that anyone can sit on, then other students know to invite them to play.
Lunch Time Activities
Every day there are supervised activities students are welcome to attend. Activities change each term and can include; Ukulele Ensemble, Art, Library, Junior & Senior Choir, Science Club, Early Act Club, Wool Club, Sports (for older grades), Board Game Club and so much more.
Buddy System
Each Prep student is assigned a Year 6 ‘buddy’ to help the transition to school & to be a friendly face in the yard. Buddies can help Preps find their way around the school as they settle in, as well as learning together from time to time in the classroom.
Library
As well as weekly scheduled class sessions in the Library, students are welcome to come to the Library during select lunchtimes to spend time quietly reading.
School Camps
School camp is a great opportunity to develop a range of life skills such as independence, resilience, responsibility etc. Activities at camp involve team work and opportunities for students to challenge themselves. Camp is also a great way to strengthen friendships and develop new bonds. Camps run for Years 3-6.
Music Lessons
Music is fantastic at cultivating patience and discipline, encouraging creative self-expression, improving memory & building confidence. As well as students attending one hour weekly music lessons for one semester each year, we offer private music lessons within school hours (at an additional cost).
