Fete News

Although the weather on the day of the Fete wasn't exactly what we ordered, 'the show did go on' and what a fantastic event it was. A little rain, a few storms , some gale force winds , and a big drop in  temperature wasn't enough to 'dampen' the spirits of the Newport Lakes community and we still had one of the best fetes ever.

Full credit to the Fete Committee, the staff, the children and the fantastic Newport community for getting on with the job, coming along and making it a great event.

The wonderful food, the Pixel Pop alley, the rides, stalls, the best in show, the auctions and the stage  entertainment were all part of a great evening of family enjoyment.  The overall funds raised were in  excess of $26,000 which is a record for the school and a fantastic effort considering the weather on the day. These funds will be used for a number of developments around the school. Details of these projects will be listed in future newsletters when finalised.

As part of one of the exciting auction prizes, I get the chance of having a ‘Day Off’ next week when Lennon P.  in Yr.4 gets the opportunity of being ‘Principal for a Day’. A big day is planned including some visits to the classrooms, a staff meeting, yard duty, hearing some students reading, a visit to a local café for the
obligatory coffee break and giving a special principal’s message at assembly.
